Malia Byrtus | Path of the Panther

Malia is a conservationist and Florida native focused on connecting diverse audiences to nature through exploration and storytelling. Her previous work includes citizen science projects that engage the public in adventurous data collection for global scientific studies, such as monarch butterfly tagging and underwater reef surveys. She first began working for Path of the Panther in 2017 as an intern while completing her master's degree in Exploration Science from the University of Miami. Since 2019, she has been the Field Program Manager for Path of the Panther overseeing the extensive network of remote wildlife camera traps throughout the greater Everglades ecosystem. Her favorite part about camera trapping is using the technology as a tool to connect people to wild places they may have never seen before.
