Satellites in Your Daily Lives | Taryn Tomlinson, Senior Engineer, Canadian Space Agency

Taryn Tomlinson has spent her career committed to discovering and exploring space. She holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from McGill University and a master’s degree in space science from the University of California, San Diego. Since 2012, she has been a senior engineer at the CSA working on space robotics, satellites and many other exciting space projects. Taryn enjoys speaking about innovation, leadership, and the contribution of the diverse players in the space sector.

In this presentation, Taryn will talk about how Earth observation satellites are part of our everyday lives, in more ways than we can imagine. She will explain how they help us stay healthy, serve the Arctic and the great Canadian North, take action on climate change, monitor and protect our ecosystems, and much more. She will also present some fun activities that children can do at home or in class if they would like to learn more about what satellites can do.
