February 23, 2021
1:00 pm to 1:45 pm EST
Kari is a biologist for Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), whose work focuses on Atlantic salmon and other diadromous fish (fish that spend part of their live in fresh water, and part of their life in salt water). She can often be found on the Miramichi River (New Brunswick) fishing traps, tagging fish, electrofishing, deploying acoustic receivers and assisting with many other field-based projects which help to derive population assessments for many species. She will share many of her work experiences in her specialized field but also how DFO has provided her the opportunity to assist with other interesting science over the years.
