The Frozen Feats (& feet!) of a Glaciologist
December 1, 2020
12:30 pm to 1:15 pm EST
Glaciers are cold, windy, and often unpleasant to work on. But they are stunningly beautiful features of the natural world. My research into ice and climate change takes me to some of the most remote, cold, and spectacular places in the world: the valley glaciers of the Yukon, the Greenland Ice Sheet, and the Antarctic Ice Sheet. I’ll share stories of life on glaciers, ranging from my research — examining how subglacial water flow is key to understanding how ice reacts to changing climate — to some of my more bizarre experiences in the land of ice and snow. And don’t worry: there will also be the obligatory pictures of penguins and polar bears!
