Darwin200 | Journey to Madagascar

Join in with Darwin200 project leader Stew McPherson and conservationists from Planet Madagascar who will talk about their work and efforts tracking and monitoring lemurs and some of the incredible biodiversity of this island nation!

Madagascar separated from mainland Africa millions of years ago, and today harbours countless unique species found no where else of the planet. Sometimes called an 'ark of unique life', this enormous island is home to entire groups of animals and plants that evolved in isolation.

Meet the real animals that inspired the Pixar film Madagascar!

Discover colour-changing chameleons, leaping lemurs, almost invisible leaf-tailed geckos and cute hedgehog-like tenrecs! Find out why the aye-aye has a bizarre, skeletal finger and why so many unique and unusual creatures live only on this amazing island.

During the event, you'll meet conservationists who will relay stories of their fascinating work conserving Madagascar's amazing wildlife, a live Q&A session during which you can ask the conservation team questions, and a short film focusing on Madagascar's most unusual animal - the aye aye!
