7 hours, a Rubber Dinghy, and a Shipwreck! The Search for Nova Zembla

At 10:20pm, 18th September 1902, the men of Dundee whaler ‘Nova Zembla’ awoke to unmistakable sounds of her timbers being crushed against the jagged reef below. Sailing in the death throes of the once industrious Arctic whaling trade, the wreck Nova Zembla was quickly abandoned, left forgotten on a desolate and unreachable coastline, high in the frozen Arctic. Join Dr. Matthew Ayre to discover how a single sentence in a century old document lead to two Arctic expeditions and the discovery of the first Arctic whaling shipwreck in Canada.
