James Webb Space Telescope Drawing Contest

With their new knowledge about the James Webb Space Telescope and its extraordinary potential for exploring our universe, your students can write down what they would like Webb to look for, or what they think he might find! Alien planets, distant galaxy collisions, cosmic dust clouds, and who knows what else?! Let your imagination run wild with all the possibilities of what could be in deep space and what we will discover in the years to come with this incredible piece of human ingenuity!

RULES

1) Drawings must be submitted on the competition sheet with the theme of Webb’s mirror. Fill the hexagon representing one of the telescope’s golden mirror segments with your drawing!

2) The image must depict something that Webb could hypothetically observe. Something space related and on a large scale! Planets, stars, galaxies, nebulae, black holes, etc. Be creative! Take a look at some previously captured images for inspiration. Don’t be afraid to incorporate things like wormholes, alien civilizations, and other things that are science fiction (for now!)

Final Date to Submit: October 30th, 2023

Teachers can scan or take photos of their students’ drawings and send them to: https://padlet.com/ebtsoyp/jwst-art-contest-padlet-d7ezt1a7emhtq9q3

Teachers, please include your name, grade, school and city in the padlet. We encourage you to share images before the competition end date on social media, tagging #NASAWebb and @ebtsoyp. The winners will be announced on November 5th!
