Royal BC Museum Women of STEM

Join three women of science at the Royal BC Museum as they share their work and collections . We will explore their unique roles at the museum, their passion for science, and the importance of collecting and preserving specimens. Vertebrate paleontologist and evolutionary biologist Dr. Victoria Arbour is the Curator of Paleontology at the Royal BC Museum. Victoria is the leading expert on the paleobiology of the armoured dinosaurs known as Ankylosaurs. She has named several new species, including British Columbia 's very on dinosaur Ferrisaurus sustutensis. ​Claudia Copley​ is a Researcher and Entomology Collections Manager at the Royal BC Museum. Claudia is responsible for maintaining the entomology collection, which includes insects, arachnids and myriapods, a collection with more than half a million specimens. Currently, Claudia is focusing on documenting spiders in British Columbia, especially at high elevations. Heidi Gartner is a Researcher and Invertebrates Collection Manager at the Royal BC Museum. Responsible for maintaining and aiding in the development of the invertebrate collection, Heidi explores local intertidal and subtidal communities while keeping an eye out for introduced species to the coast.
