Enooyaq Sudlovenick | Live from Iqaluit

Enooyaq is a Master of Science student at the Atlantic Veterinary College, Prince Edward Island, Canada. She is studying Veterinary Medicine with a focus on pathology and microbiology of Ringed Seals in Frobisher Bay, Nunavut. Her research incorporates aspects of western science through analysis of heavy metals and pathogen of Ringed Seal tissue, with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (Inuit Traditional Knowledge), through close collaboration with hunters and elders. With a background in marine and freshwater biology, and life experience growing up in Pond Inlet and Iqaluit, she hopes to link both forms of knowledge to create a productive environment for community-based research. Enooyaq, as a member of the Students on Ice (SOI) 2018 Arctic Expedition team, will also share this week's launch of Environment and Climate Change Canada's Ocean Plastics Education Kit and Marine Litter Education Day (September 17th) of which SOI is pleased to serve as a partner.
